Spent Monday evening with Boy Scout Troop 123 in St. George’s Delaware – invited by Scout leader Matt Gessner to give a presentation on what soldier life was like during the Civil War. The troop, along with other troops will be camping on a farm at Gettysburg, I forget which one unfortunately, and wanted to have an understanding of what the men went through back then. Bill Purdy from the second Delaware Reenactors volunteered to help along with his wife Renate Leuprecht Purdy in period clothing. I gave the young men a general quiz and brought along hands on artifacts for them to enjoy. It was a good evening. (Photo credits: Matthew Gessner)
