The Department of the Chesapeake, is a regional branch of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of those heroes who fought to save the Union. The Department of the Chesapeake, chartered in 1887, serves the mid-Atlantic region. There are camps in Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
